Germany – A country that surprises!

I have just spent an amazing two weeks in Germany and it is a country that takes you by surprise. it is not what it seems! Germany is a place that has plenty of history, some of which is not nice but get through this and you will find an amazing country with great people, great food, great drinks, great scenery and great culture. It is a country of amazing diversity…..and…. it is not expensive!

During the cruise we travelled through Germany and what an amazing landscape – constantly changing and constantly impressive. One interesting part of this journey is the history. The Wachau Valley is so beautiful with old castles, medieval roads, buildings and bridges and scenic vineyards. Some of the best wine is from Germany! The Rhine Riesling is very good. Then there is schnapps…..! WOW! We were introduced to schnapps by a 90 year man who attributes his very good health to a schnapps morning and night. “It aids digestion” he said. Hmmm I must try this!
