Sometimes you do things for just the pure fun of it!

The Fremantle out and back cruise on the Athena was just this. A trip to no-where in particular was a fun and relaxing time spent with friends. The MV Athena has all the necessary cruise items for an enjoyable cruise that isn’t that expensive compared to a hotel in a resort down south! Our trip took place on 12 and 13th February 2011.

The food is 3-4 star and plenty of it. Anytime! The drinks were very affordable, not like some other places that i have been. A great beer for $5 and a nice cocktail for around $8 (Aussie). The wine selection, quality and prices were on par with any good hotel. A range of Australian wines kept us all very happy.

The staterooms vary and are certainly within the range of any family. In fact it is a great family ship- kids are well catered for. The beds are good and the bathrooms very appropriate for the vessel. Cleanliness was superb with all housemaids very friendly and efficient.

The two show nights were excellent with “Tango in Paris” being the highlight. What we saw on the cruise was worth at least $150 per person in a major theatre elsewhere but this is included! Wow! The entertainers were gifted and very well costumed for the show.

The Athena is a Grand Lady, refurbished and very good value for money. A total of around 500 passengers gives plenty of space for relaxing around the small pool but with a family and party atmosphere. In fact it seemed just like a huge family gathering! There is certainly plenty of deck beds for those who just want to rest, a cinema for those who wish to enjoy a good movie, a library, a computer room and plenty of lounges for reading.

I can give a personal recommendation for this cruise. Athena also does other cruises and I would not hesitate to recommend her as a choice to Asia and further. It is that good! Of course it helps with good friends, so we took another couple with us and had a real blast.

It is a great party ship and it even docks in time for work on Monday morning or school anywhere in the metro area.
